    The IT New Markets and Strategic Initiatives Project Manager leads the IT project team’s efforts in the delivery of initiatives supporting the entry of new markets with core automotive finance products and adding or expanding new lines of business that are complementary to our existing business practices.  The role is ultimately responsible for following the SDLC framework, from project inception to project closure, in successfully delivering the project on time and budget and with high quality within the project scope defined. 

    Responsibilities

    • Responsible for aligning the deliverables, cost, schedule, and quality of the project.
    • Develops/reviews/approves project plans and scope; ensuring all facets of the project deliverables are met.
    • Manages risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies. Contributes to issue resolution, influences other resources to accomplish project tasks, and maintains full control over all aspects of projects.
    • Take a hands-on approach to the management of all project activities and drives teams to create quality deliverables in a timely fashion.
    • Monitors and drives the progress of the vendor team and GMF employees, informs the team of its progress and provides the team with support and direction.
    • Coordinates people, tasks and dependencies to execute accordingly to the project plan.
    • Produces timely and accurate reports to IT Program management and key stakeholders regarding progress, conflicts, risks, assumptions, issues and dependencies.
    • Works with vendor team management to supervise/develop vendor resources; Act as matched-pair with vendor PM.
    • Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendor resources, vendor management, development teams, stakeholder and senior management. Establishes a reliable communication channel with all stakeholders.
    • Has thorough understanding of business matters and technical concepts required for successful project delivery.
    • Uses appropriate knowledge, creativity, priorities, pragmatic and company practices to obtain solutions to complex problems.
    • Interfaces with senior management to provide and obtain information and to build consensus regarding project direction.
    • Takes hands on approach to the management of all project activities and drives teams to deliver quality in a timely fashion.

    Qualifications

    Experience:

     

    Required:

    • Minimum of 5-7 years IT project management experience.
    • Experience in managing large, high profile global projects.
    • Experience in managing diverse stakeholders relationships.
    • Degree level educated or equivalent experience in IT.
    • Available to travel internationally for business purposes on short notice
    • Experience managing third party vendors. 

    Preferred:

    • PMP certification.
    • Financial services industry experience.

    Skills & Knowledge: 

    • Proven track record of delivering significant IT projects.
    • Ability to manage large and complex IT projects involving multiple vendors and stakeholders in diverse geographical locations.
    • Detailed knowledge of Agile / Waterfall project management methodologies, tools and software development life cycles.
    • Thorough understanding of project financials, budgeting and business value.
    • Ability to manage project issues and conflicts, escalate as necessary and deliver quality projects within time, budget and scope.
    • Ability to deliver quality solutions to customers and develop process improvements where applicable.
    • Outstanding communication skills in both written and spoken form. Capable of communicating ideas in both technical and business language.
    • Skilled in communicating with senior business, vendors and key stakeholders.
    • Ability to thoroughly understand the business issues surrounding IT matters.
    • Outstanding customer relationship management skills and strong customer focus.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
    • Outstanding at working under pressure and to tight deadlines whilst maintaining quality solutions.
    • Ability to be flexible to working locations, working hours and international travel to support a global business.
    • Ability to operate with the utmost integrity and consistently display a positive attitude to work and the various challenges encountered in a project environment.
    • Highly self-motivated and directed, with an attention to detail.
