    Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the Senior Accountant will be responsible for various consolidated GM Financial International Operations internal and SEC financial reporting requirements, as well as performing financial analysis on consolidated financial statements.  This position will also assist with certain corporate monthly accounting activities and other special projects as necessary. 

    Responsibilities

    Major Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Prepare certain month-end journal entries and account reconciliations
    • Prepare and provide financial information for SEC footnote disclosures in support of GM & GM Financial 10-Q/10-K reporting process
    • Analyze monthly financial data with a focus on secured and unsecured debt and related items
    • Assist in preparation of monthly Statement of Cash Flows
    • Assist in preparation of monthly Regional Results Review and other analytics
    • Coordinate with other functional areas/teams, such as Financial Planning, Management Reporting, Treasury, etc.
    • Review current accounting processes and assist in improvement initiatives where applicable
    • Assist in implementation of certain technical accounting and disclosure matters
    • Coordinate with both internal and external auditors to answer questions and provide supporting documentation

    Qualifications

    Professional Requirements:

    • Undergraduate degree in accounting – CPA/Equivalent required
    • 5+ years progressively responsible accounting experience preferred
    • Demonstrated technical and professional accounting skills (preferable Big 4 public accounting experience)
    • Financial Services industry experience a plus

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

     

    • Working knowledge of accounting and internal/SEC reporting processes
    • Capacity to anticipate and develop new processes with minimal direction
    • Proficient knowledge of computer skills including MS Office, Oracle, Cognos, Hyperion Essbase
    • Strong time management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks
    • High level of written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate with leadership as necessary
    • High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with other team members, including other countries
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
