    Under the direction of the SharePoint Program Manager, the SharePoint Technical Lead for will work individually and collaboratively as the technical leader responsible for delivering solutions for GM Financial International Operations’ SharePoint farms (i.e. B2C websites, employee portal, TeamSites). The SharePoint Technical Lead will act as a champion for the platform by partnering with business & IT platform owners and application stakeholders to drive the technical approach for the design and development of SharePoint solutions. This role will liaise with key stakeholders on the future direction of the platform and potential projects.  The technical lead will provide direction to project managers and business stakeholders including an impact analysis on the environment, development cycle duration and tasks, and overall project estimates for all projects and releases.

    Responsibilities

    • Ability to assess client requirements and determine appropriate architecture for SharePoint configuration and implementation
    • Conduct customer envisioning sessions and demonstration how SharePoint can solve their business needs to gain business requirements
    • Strong consulting and analysis skills, including the ability to understand business needs and to help translate those into technical solutions
    • Exceptional communication, documentation and organizational skills
    • Ability to develop project plans and estimates, liaising with the business and external vendors, and overseeing the day-to-day development tasks.
    • Supports the Project Manager and SharePoint team in providing guidance on the implementation of solutions built on SharePoint.
    • Knowledge of development languages and methods such as CSS, HTML and JavaScript, CSOM, JQUERY, JavaScript
    • Promote SharePoint knowledge throughout the organization by conducting presentations to the business and writing end-use training documentation.
    • Conduct senior management presentations to demonstrate opportunities to leverage the SharePoint platform in the organization.
    • Experience in creating SharePoint sites using the publishing feature for public websites, corporate intranets and extranets

    Qualifications

    Essential:

    • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent industry experience.
    • Minimum of 5+ years Microsoft SharePoint (2013/2016) and 2+ years SharePoint Online (Office 365) in implementing, configuring, customizing, upgrading and administering and troubleshooting SharePoint
    • 3-5 years+ support experience in an IT environment and respective business area in analyzing and implementing applications systems.
    • 3-5 years providing strategic direction to business consumers on the benefits of SharePoint focusing on adoption strategies, records retention, taxonomy and governance.
    • 3-5 years of work experience in SharePoint development, including workflows using out of the box workflows and Nintex.
    • Ability to evaluate new functionality in newer versions of SharePoint as well as identify how the business can leverage base functionality of SharePoint to streamline current business processes.

    Preferable:

    • Demonstrated thought leadership and contributions to the SharePoint Collaboration community through blog posts, discussions and/or speaking engagements
    • Develop architectural documents outlining the logical and physical approach for SharePoint farms
    • Creation of test strategies and cases to support a successful implementation of solutions including development testing and SIT testing
    • Perform technical reviews and analysis of existing platforms to assess the impact to the existing environment including:
    • Platform upgrades to SharePoint including upgrading to new versions of SharePoint
    • Upgrades to SQL Server and compatibility requirements with SharePoint’s product version
    • Migration and deployment strategies to move solutions between on premise environments or the cloud using tools like ShareGate or other backup and restore methods.
    • Experience working with a variety of content management systems including SharePoint.

    • Highly self-motivated and directed, with an attention to detail.
