  • Overview

    The Instructional Design Manager, will be responsible for understanding training needs, designing, developing and maintaining operations curricula and leadership courses to drive a drive a customer-focused and experience-driven learning culture across GMF International Operations. This position is key to the standardization and alignment of the GMF IO vision to deliver better customer experiences by equipping employees through an integrated approach to employee orientation, job-skills, on-going and developmental learning experiences.


    • Manage a team of up to 5 on-site and remote instructional designers.
    • Hire, on-board and train instructional designers within 90 days.
    • Help architect the strategy and execution of instructional design and incorporate into Learning Methodology/Standards within 60 days.
    • Ensure compliance with corporate brand/identity and style guidelines for 100% of learning assets.
    • Be responsible for design and partner to create an implementation strategy to drive a Customer-Centric Culture (Service Excellence Program) across GMF IO.
    • Work with interdisciplinary teams that includes remote and on-site functional experts and other stakeholders to understand targeted performance outcomes, create project charters, and utilize project management tools to reach aligned upon outcomes.
    • Create modular learning curricula for key functional areas and roles (Operations, Dealer, Collections, F & I, etc). Establish and prioritize program design schedule to execute against deliverables in a timely manner.
    • Ensure that there is successful integration of a 'customer centric' way of delivering service into all core curricula, programs and courses.
    • Establish and execute a maintenance/review cycle on an annual basis or as appropriate based on changing systems and standards.
    • Define and implement best practices to evaluate training effectiveness up to and including business impact and ROI. Evaluate the effectiveness of training activities in relation to strategic priorities and business goals based on project charter agreements.
    • Prepare training design project scorecard and contribute to Monthly Business Review reports and documents.
    • Maintain strict confidentiality of all information
    • Periodic travel may be required


    Education level:

    • Bachelor’s degree (minimum)
    • Preferred areas of study include: Instructional Design, Learning and Curriculum Development, Technical Writing, English, Human Resources Development or similar
    • Master’s degree (desired)

    Experience level:

    • eLearning content development: 3 years
    • Facilitator led content development: 5 years
    • Supervisory: 5 + years
