Overview

The IO Data Protection Program Lead willbuild and enhance data protection compliance for the business by partnering with key stakeholders and the lines of business to mitigate data protection compliance risks. Assist the business in ensuring that the day-to-day operations are conducted in compliance with data protection regulatory and legal requirements, in addition to company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Continue development and maintenance of GMF International Operations (GMF IO) data protection policy and procedures
  • Ensure that data protection compliance standards are implemented within each of the IO countries
  • Assist and provide guidance to countries DPOs on data protection related matters including data loss prevention incidents
  • Draft and deliver data protection training and awareness content for all business levels
  • Monitor and report to Compliance Control Framework Manager on performance of data protection activities (e.g., trending, etc.) in the various geographic areas
  • Ensure that the regulatory change management procedures are developed and followed when there are changes to data protection laws
  • Assess and investigate potential privacy event reports and incidents triggered by GM Financials Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Tool as the IO DPO for U.S.
  • Carry out Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA) on all new or changes to existing systems and processes as well as new vendors or new services provided by existing vendors involving personal data and provide advice on the necessary actions that need to be taken to ensure compliance with data protection law
  • Maintain a record of all data processing agreements
  • Complete the data protection risk assessment process as and when required

Qualifications

  • +5 years’ experience within a regulatory compliance, risk management, or audit role within financial services industry
  • +3 years or more experience within data privacy and protection
  • Bachelor’s degree within a relevant disciplines
  • Working knowledge of Data Protection Regulations (LAO countries a plus)
  • Data Privacy International Certification preferred
  • Ability to work well with others including stakeholders
  • Ability to evaluate risk
