Overview

Reporting to the SVP Strategic Initiatives, the position will assist in developing and deploying GM Financial’s strategic planning framework. The framework will assist leadership in understanding emerging trends (e.g., digital and autonomous) and developing a strategic roadmap to create and maintain competitive advantage.   The role will collaborate closely with GM’s Strategy group to insure an integrated approach to strategy development.   In addition, as strategic initiatives emerge, it is expected that the AVP will play a leadership role in their execution.

 

Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities of the role:

  • Utilize internal and external resources to develop key elements of the strategic planning framework
  • Benchmark best practices with other companies
  • Implement agreed upon strategic planning routines, such as megatrend monitoring, competitive analysis, scenario planning and executive offsite meetings
  • Lead the development of business cases on certain strategic initiatives

 

Strategic areas that will likely be in scope:

  • Partnerships with Maven, Lyft, Uber and other mobility companies
  • Fintech company acquisitions or alliances
  • B2C direct to consumer business models
  • Forward integrating into new service offerings, such as remarketing, to capitalize on the opportunities created by “fleetization”
  • Innovative technologies that improve the customer experience and win customers for life, such as blockchain, machine learning and artificial intelligence

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in strategic planning, strategic development or FP&A
  • Three years of management experience
  • Fluent in English
