This role involves providing technical ownership and expertise on data network initiatives for an international finance company - comprising 2,700 users over 25 sites in 17 countries. Core technologies include Cisco LAN / WAN product range including ISR and ASR platforms, Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, ASA, F5, Checkpoint. Any experience with Cisco ACI would be desirable but not essential.



  • Technical responsibility / ownership of data communications projects.
  • Provide solutions to meet business / project demands based on corporate standards.
  • Input and influence to ensure chosen solutions are technically and architecturally sound, meeting all documented requirements
  • To assist in the planning, design, and implementation, of voice and data projects.
  • Provide SME input / support to the operations team.
  • Provide technical support for projects as directed
  • Assist with policy, procedure and standards documents based on industry best practices and personal research and experience.
  • Provide support for critical system changes outside of business hours.
  • Understands and promotes GM Financial’s policy on Treating Customers Fairly (TCF).
  • To ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the GM Financial business and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion.


  • Successful candidate will have several years’ experience working with enterprise level network / telecom services.
  • Experience of supporting global organizations.
  • Proven track record of successfully delivering complex technical solutions
  • Experience of successfully working with outsourced partners
  • Able to operate with multi geographic teams and locations
  • Experience with industry leading network and security products including Cisco campus and datacentre product lines, Checkpoint, BIGIP.

Skills and Knowledge:


  • Experience in Cisco enterprise network design with CCNP / DP or equivalent experience.
  • Detailed design and conceptual knowledge of the following technologies/services: WAN, MPLS, VPN, TCP/IP, Internet, cloud based services, network services (DHCP, DNS), campus and datacentre LAN, QoS.
  • Experience with the latest Cisco product portfolio for campus and datacentre networks including ASR, ISR, Nexus 2k, 5k, 7k, 9k, campus switch including 3750, 3850, 45xx, 65xx series platforms.
  • Detailed conceptual knowledge of enterprise routing protocols including BGP, OSPF.
  • Technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to thoroughly understand the business issues surrounding each project
  • Ability to articulate technical options/issues/designs such that management can make informed decisions
  • Ability to communicate quickly, clearly, concisely, appropriately, and intelligently; must foster open communication, speak with impact, listen to others, and write effectively.  
  • Possess critical thinking and analytical skills with an ability to evaluate complex problems and issues quickly and accurately in order to recommend or take the most appropriate course of action.  
  • Good interpersonal skills with an ability to work well with others in teams and collaborative work situations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
